Collected Over Time: My Favorite Timeless Design Sources
“Don’t we all love the feeling of walking into a home that feels as if it’s grown over seasons of life?”
Aside from classic keepsake gifts, the joy of searching and collecting treasures for our home is up there on my list. From seashell mirrors, to bleached pine chests to hold my favorite little people’s things, my list is filled with things I’d love to find to love up those that I treasure most. And I want my home to feel just like that—like a cherished keepsake.
The idea of collecting over time is the the hallmark of the coastal grandmother philosophy”—classic, lived-in, meaningful pieces that create a beautiful tapestry of a home that wasn’t rushed. Don’t we all love the feeling of walking into a home that you can feel has grown over seasons of life? A home that we ease right into “killing time in”? Spaces that are infused with the personality of the ones we love and cherish all while being purposefully designed for others to grace and gather in?
I think of natural materials like linens and woods, rattans and stone, and ceramics with stories to tell. Of soft and sun-washed colors of creams, pale blues and faded greens. Of imperfections and wear that display the prettiest patinas. That coastal grandmother hallmark of nothing precious (but the people gathered), yet everything loved.
I’d love to invite you to peruse my favorite sources that are delightful collections in themselves of timeless design.
